BeatSarcoma Job Descriptions
All roles are volunteer positions - BeatSarcoma is run entirely by volunteers which allows it to keep very low overhead costs.
You may combine roles if you are so inclined and have enough time to devote to it. Training is available for most positions - so do not hesitate to pick a role that you like, even if you do not have any experience with it.
We ask for a commitment of 1 to 3 years, renewable.

Roles that can be done remotely
Social Media Manager - This person will oversee all aspects of the BeatSarcoma Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as blog (stories.beatsarcoma.org) and moderate our Guest Book. This consists in publishing important information in a timely manner. The type of information that we publish may be related to news about the sarcoma community at large, sarcoma research progress, donations BeatSarcoma may make, events it runs...or job postings! Some other members may contribute content and work with you to create a post. Email and Internet access are required. Each post will take a very small amount of time in the order of minutes, and responsiveness is key to success!
Business Development Director - A lot of companies have developed programs to assist charities with their fundraising. GiveRead is an example of the online ones. Supermarkets, around the world that donate part of each sales to charities (‘contribute to XYZ’ at the checkout counter) would be another one. There might also be opportunities we can create. Researching these opportunities and incorporating BeatSarcoma into their activities can bring a tremendous amount of funds in a very scalable way. There is enough work to build a team and grow the effort. An average time commitment would be about 1 to 2 hours/week. This work is independent of any event.
Director of Marketing - you can help BeatSarcoma scale tremendously by supporting outreach campaigns, cross-promotion efforts, PR and online marketing (AdWords for instance) to encourage people to donate through the BeatSarcoma website. An average time commitment would be about 1 to 2 hours/week. This work is independent of any event
Legal Counsel - as BeatSarcoma scales and work with many more volunteers throughout the State, the country and perhaps beyond, understanding liability and responsibilities issues become critical to success. You may not have experience in this particular area of the law but you can help BeatSarcoma navigate this information and set up successful scalable fundraising programs.
